1. Who we are
Hey! Fakira Collective is an independent production label based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is operated by Tejasvi Bhalla, a sole proprietor carrying on business as Hey! Fakira Collective ("Hey! Fakira", "we", "us" or "our").
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain and protect personal information when you visit this website (the "Site"), contact us, book a consultation or otherwise interact with us through the Site.
Tejasvi Bhalla is responsible for Hey! Fakira's privacy practices and compliance.
We handle personal information in accordance with Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and other applicable Canadian privacy laws.
For privacy questions, requests or complaints, contact Tejasvi Bhalla at info@heyfakira.com.
2. What personal information we collect
We limit the personal information we collect to what is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy.
When you book a call, we may collect the information you provide through the booking process, including your name, email address, time zone, preferred appointment time, phone number if you choose to provide it, and information you choose to share about yourself, your project or the reason for the consultation.
Our booking service may also collect technical information necessary to operate the booking page.
When you contact us, we collect your contact information and whatever information you choose to include in your message or attachments.
When you share project materials, we may receive scripts, treatments, pitch decks, creative materials or other project information, including any personal information contained in those materials.
Please do not send personal information about another person unless you have permission or another lawful basis to share it.
When you visit the Site, our website infrastructure may automatically process technical information associated with your visit, such as your IP address, browser and device information, pages or content requested, date and time of requests, and information needed to maintain the performance and security of the Site.
We also use Manus's built-in website analytics to understand general Site usage and performance. The analytics service may process technical information associated with your visit, including your IP address and page-view information, and may use that information to generate general location and usage statistics.
We use this information to understand how the Site is being used, troubleshoot problems, improve the Site and maintain its security. We do not use it to build advertising profiles or track you across unrelated websites.
The consultation and booking services on the Site are intended for people aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly solicit personal information from children under 13 without appropriate parental or guardian consent. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information inappropriately, please contact us.
3. How we use personal information
We may use personal information to:
- schedule, confirm, reschedule and conduct consultations;
- prepare for a consultation or conversation;
- respond to enquiries and messages;
- communicate with you about a project or potential collaboration;
- review information or materials that you have asked us to consider;
- provide producing, consulting, mentoring or related services;
- maintain basic business and project records where we go on to work together;
- understand how visitors use the Site;
- maintain, troubleshoot and improve Site performance and usability;
- prevent misuse and protect the security of the Site and our systems;
- meet legal, accounting, tax or regulatory requirements; and
- establish, exercise or defend legal rights where necessary.
We will not use personal information for a materially different purpose without obtaining additional consent where required by law.
We will not add you to a marketing mailing list simply because you contacted us or booked a consultation. If we introduce optional marketing communications in the future, we will obtain any consent required by law and provide a way to unsubscribe.
4. Consent
We obtain consent for the collection, use and disclosure of personal information where required by law.
The form of consent may depend on the nature of the information, the purpose for which it is being used and the circumstances in which it is collected.
For example, when you voluntarily submit information through a booking form or contact us with a project enquiry, your actions may indicate consent for us to use that information for the purposes reasonably connected with your request.
You may withdraw your consent to our continued use or disclosure of personal information, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide a service you have requested.
5. Project materials and confidentiality
Scripts, treatments, pitch decks and other creative or project materials that you share with us for a consultation or potential collaboration are treated as confidential.
We use those materials for purposes connected with reviewing, discussing or working on the project for which they were provided.
We do not disclose your project materials to outside collaborators, prospective partners or other third parties for creative or commercial purposes without your permission, unless disclosure is required by law.
If we enter into an ongoing working relationship, additional agreements between us may govern confidentiality, intellectual property, document retention and project information.
You may ask us to delete project materials that we no longer need, subject to any legal, contractual, accounting or record-keeping obligations that require us to retain them.
6. Who we share information with
We do not sell or rent personal information.
We may provide limited information to service providers that help us operate the Site, communicate with you or deliver services. These currently include or may include:
- Manus, which provides website hosting, infrastructure and built-in Site analytics;
- Google, when you use our Google booking page or related Google services;
- email and video-call service providers;
- cloud storage or document-management providers where required for our work; and
- professional advisers or service providers where reasonably necessary for legal, accounting, tax or business administration purposes.
These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary for the services they provide.
Where a service provider processes personal information on our behalf, we remain responsible for personal information under our control and take reasonable steps to work with providers that offer appropriate privacy and security protections.
We may also disclose personal information where permitted or required by law, including in response to a valid court order, warrant or other lawful request.
7. Processing outside Canada
Some of the service providers we use may process or store personal information outside Canada, including in the United States or other jurisdictions.
When personal information is processed in another country, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement agencies, national-security authorities or other governmental bodies in accordance with local law.
We take reasonable steps to select service providers with appropriate privacy and security practices, but we do not control the laws of the countries in which those providers operate.
8. Analytics, cookies and browser storage
The Site uses Manus's built-in analytics to help us understand general Site usage and performance.
Based on the analytics implementation currently used on the Site, the analytics tracker does not set analytics cookies or write analytics information to localStorage or sessionStorage in your browser.
It may read an existing browser-storage setting used to determine whether analytics has been disabled.
Technical information, including an IP address, may be processed when analytics, security or other website requests are made.
Manus has not confirmed to us whether raw IP addresses may also be retained in its hosting, access, security or backup systems, or the specific retention periods that apply to those records. We therefore do not claim that IP addresses are always anonymized, never stored or deleted after a particular period.
We do not currently use advertising cookies, behavioural advertising or cross-site advertising trackers.
Our third-party booking page and other external services may use their own cookies or similar technologies. Their use of those technologies is governed by their own privacy practices.
You can control or delete cookies and browser storage through your browser settings. Blocking certain technologies may affect the way some third-party features work.
If we materially change the analytics or tracking technologies used on the Site, we will update this policy and obtain any additional consent required by law.
9. How long we keep personal information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected, or as required by law.
As a general practice:
- booking and general contact information may be retained for up to 24 months after our last substantive contact;
- project information relating to an active engagement may be retained for the duration of the project and for any additional period reasonably required for contractual, legal, accounting, tax or record-keeping purposes;
- project materials submitted only for an initial consultation may be deleted when they are no longer required for that purpose, including upon request where appropriate; and
- information that must be retained to comply with legal obligations will be kept for the applicable required period.
After the applicable retention period, we delete, securely dispose of or anonymize personal information where appropriate.
Technical and analytics information processed by our website and analytics providers may be subject to those providers' own operational, security and backup retention periods.
Manus has not confirmed the specific retention periods that apply to its hosted analytics, infrastructure logs, security logs or backups. We therefore do not make a specific retention promise for information held within those systems that we do not directly control.
If we receive a valid request for access to personal information, information relevant to that request may need to be retained long enough for the request and any available review or complaint process to be completed.
10. How we protect personal information
We use administrative, technical and organizational safeguards that are reasonable in light of the sensitivity of the information we handle.
These may include:
- password-protected accounts;
- multi-factor or two-factor authentication where available;
- reputable hosting and technology providers;
- limiting access to information to people who reasonably need it;
- keeping software and services appropriately secured; and
- taking reasonable care when transmitting, storing or disposing of personal information.
No method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect personal information against unauthorized access, use, disclosure, alteration or loss.
11. Privacy and security breaches
If a breach of security safeguards involving personal information under our control occurs, we will assess the circumstances and take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable Canadian privacy law.
Where required by PIPEDA, this may include reporting a breach to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada and notifying affected individuals when the breach creates a real risk of significant harm.
We also maintain records of privacy breaches where required by law.
12. Your privacy rights
Subject to applicable law, you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you;
- explain how that information has been used;
- tell you about third parties to whom it has been disclosed, where applicable;
- provide access to personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- withdraw consent to future uses or disclosures, subject to legal or contractual restrictions; or
- delete information that we no longer need and are not legally or contractually required to retain.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a request.
For a formal request for access to personal information under PIPEDA, we will respond as quickly as reasonably possible and, in any event, within the time required by law. The standard PIPEDA response period is 30 calendar days, subject to the limited extensions permitted by the Act.
There may be circumstances where the law allows or requires us to refuse access to some information. If that happens, we will explain the reason where legally permitted and tell you about any available recourse.
To make a privacy request, email info@heyfakira.com.
13. Privacy complaints
If you have a concern about how we have handled personal information, please contact us first so that we can review and respond to it.
Privacy enquiries and complaints should be directed to:

We will investigate privacy complaints in a reasonable manner and take appropriate steps where a complaint is found to be justified.

14. Third-party websites and services
The Site may contain links to external websites, social-media platforms, booking services, streaming services or other third-party resources.
When you leave our Site or interact directly with a third-party service, that provider's privacy policy and practices apply.
We are not responsible for the privacy practices of websites or services that we do not operate.
15. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to our practices, technology, service providers or legal requirements.
The current version will be posted on this page with the date of the most recent update.
If a change materially affects how we collect, use or disclose personal information, we will take additional steps to obtain consent where required by law.
